Midnight Society
Street Team Guidelines
Midnight Society is Violet Hale’s street team: a group of readers who enjoy her books and want to help more people discover them.
Please read these guidelines before applying.
1. Who can join?
You must be 18 or older, have read at least one Violet Hale book, and have an active public account where you share bookish content.
You don’t need a large following. Genuine interest, relevant content, and reliability matter more than follower counts.
2. Ways to participate
You can choose how you contribute:
Share provided content: post ready-made graphics, announcements, excerpts, and promotional materials.
Create original content: make your own recommendations, photos, graphics, carousels, or videos.
Do both: choose whichever approach suits each activity.
You don’t need professional design or editing skills.
3. Posting expectations
Members are expected to share at least two promotional posts per calendar month. Stories, feed posts, carousels, and videos all count.
A story sequence counts as one contribution. Publishing the same content on several platforms is welcome, but counts as one contribution toward the monthly minimum.
Likes, comments, and private chat activity are appreciated but do not replace promotional posts.
Your first month’s expectations will be confirmed when you join.
4. Releases and special campaigns
Cover reveals, releases, and promotions may have their own schedules and participation requirements.
Details will be shared in advance, and you can decide whether to join each campaign. Once you commit, please follow the agreed dates or let Violet know if your availability changes.
Campaign contributions count toward your monthly minimum. Any additional expectations will be explained before you sign up.
5. Communication and sharing your posts
Discord will be the team’s main hub for announcements, materials, and campaign information. Members should check team updates at least once a week.
Please share a link to each published contribution in the designated channel. For temporary content such as stories, a screenshot is fine.
Daily chatting is optional. Participation is based on agreed activities, not how often you talk in the group.
6. Using promotional materials
You may use materials provided for street team promotion once they have been approved for public sharing.
Please:
Follow any posting dates or embargoes.
Keep book titles, author names, cover artwork, and quoted text accurate.
Use current prices, dates, and links.
Avoid major spoilers unless explicitly approved.
Keep unreleased files, private updates, and ARC copies within their intended audience.
You may add your own captions and layouts, but please don’t alter book covers or rewrite excerpts presented as direct quotations.
7. Original content and permissions
Your original work remains yours. Joining Midnight Society does not transfer ownership or give permission to use your content in paid advertising.
Violet may ask to reshare or reuse your work, with credit and your permission. Paid advertising, substantial edits, or delivery of original files will be discussed separately.
Only use images, footage, music, and other assets you have permission to publish.
8. Honest opinions and transparency
You are never required to give a positive review, a particular star rating, or praise you don’t genuinely mean.
Street team participation does not require a review of every book. ARC participation is handled separately, and all reviews must remain independent.
Clearly disclose your street team connection and any free books, gifts, or payment when relevant to your post. Follow the applicable platform rules and disclosure requirements.
Do not claim to have read a book you haven’t read. You can share a release announcement without presenting it as a personal recommendation.
9. Respectful participation
Treat fellow members and the wider book community with respect.
Do not argue with reviewers, pressure anyone to change a rating, send unsolicited promotional messages, or post in spaces where promotion is prohibited.
Members support the books as readers; they do not speak on Violet’s behalf or act as her representatives.
10. Breaks and changes in availability
Participation is voluntary and unpaid. If you need a break, please send a private message so we can pause your participation.
Membership may be reviewed if posting expectations are repeatedly missed without communication. Serious breaches of confidentiality or respectful conduct may result in removal.
You may leave the street team at any time. Leaving does not automatically affect your ARC membership, which is managed separately.
11. Applications and the initial period
All applicants, including previous Midnight Society members, will be considered under the same guidelines. Applying does not guarantee acceptance.
The first six weeks will be an initial period for both you and Violet to see whether the arrangement works. Any later changes to expectations will be communicated before they take effect.
By applying, you confirm that you have read these guidelines and can meet the participation expectations, or have indicated in your application where you need flexibility.
